Lobsterpalooza

7 course meal, 6 of which were lobster focused. Community table in a restaurant in the West Village. Shawn and I had a great time meeting some fun table mates and eating a good, but unfortunately not great meal. The portion sizes were pretty skimpy and the lobster was lacking for a meal called lobsterpalooza.

We started with a bread basket with a compound butter, we couldn't understand the server's accent, but it tasted good.

Next was the amuse lobster roll, granted it was an amuse, but a quarter of a family style sandwich was delicious, but fairly unsatisfying.

Lobster crudo was probably my favorite course, the raw preparation had an oyster vinaigrette, leeks and truffles? Amazing flavors. How could you not love oyster, lobster & truffles. I did, however, agree with Shawn that it could have used a bit of citrus.

My least favorite course was the peach gazpacho with basil oil and lobster. It was too sweet and unbalanced in flavor for me.

Next was the pasta course, we were excited for this. Homemade pasta with a spicy sauce and lobster chunks of lobster and basil. The dish came covered in parmesan cheese, but I stirred so the pasta and lobster could be seen.

Lobster Vadouvan was subtle flavors that tasted good together, but it was pretty weak, it was trying to be a curry, but barely flavored as the menu suggested (coconut pudding, cashews, green papaya & rice). The pickled tomato was very tasty. The dish overpowered the lobster, but was underwhelming overall.

Pork belly & Lobster salad was the most clean lobster flavor, the cabbage was very tasty and the fried pork belly was like croutons.

Dessert was more of a palette cleanser. Apricot yuzu creme anglaise, coconut ice cream and a crumble. Shawn went for actual dessert at 16 handles after, but I decided to skip the extra dairy and try to appreciate the light end to the meal.
