Caramel apple bread pudding, vanilla ice cream and really bad karaoke at Cornerstone. What an evening.

Pizza & Pool
The JCTO & ORI hosted a post-holiday party at a billiards place, tonight. I only had a slice of pizza since I had such a late lunch.
Uncle Gussy's
Scott saved me from not eating lunch. Grabbed me a Greek salad with chicken and a side of fries from Uncle Gussy's truck.
Cereal in the Office
Wasn't hungry before I left the house... Had meetings scheduled all day, so I thought it wise to eat some cereal in the office.

Kellari Taverna
I had a boring meeting this afternoon and booked a reservation for dinner... To stick with this week's tradition, I chose Kellari Taverna, a place Aimee & I had already been to together.
We started with bread, some sort of spread and olives... then split two meals off the restaurant week menu.
Scallop
Lightly seared, pomegranate risotto.
Spanikopita
Pies stuffed with spinach, leeks & feta
Lavraki
Grilled Mediterranean bass, steamed wild greens
Moussaka
Classic Greek casserole of lamb, yogurt béchamel
Sokolatina
Dark chocolate torte, mastiha gelato
Karidopita
Honey walnut cake, fig gelato

Another Wednesday in the Cafeteria
Another last minute visit to the Garden Cafe at NYPH between meetings for my group.
Salad bar & veggie chili for me, again.

One Piece of Salmon
Smoked salmon from Russ & Daughters was on the BITEA spreadsheet so Cathy she asked them for "a piece". They told her 2 was minimum...
So this morning we toasted English muffins, spread a wedge of laughing cow cheese, slices of tomato & onions with one piece of smoked salmon a piece.

Restaurant Week at Butter
Another top notch meal... Restaurant week made it a not so expensive meal.
Bread and butter, a must have at Butter.
House Made Charcuterie Platter: House-Cured Bacon, Duck Breast Mortadella, Chicken Liver on Toast and Spicy Napa Cabbage
Roasted Salmon with Braised Lentils du Puy, Macoun Apples and Horseradish
Lemon Sorbet with Kumquat Marmalade and Toasted Sesame Seeds
You never disappoint, Alex!

Ginger Cashew Clusters
After a long day of work, in anticipation of a 3-course meal, I decided a bowl of cereal with vanilla almond milk would be a key component of my day at 5:15PM. Luckily the cabinet and fridge in my office are stocked well enough to accomplish this!
Nooks & Crannies
Bought a pack of English Muffins... Likely another boring week of repeat breakfasts. Peanut butter in the nooks & crannies!

Second Dessert
Cathy stopped by another BTIEA spot from the spreadsheet earlier in the day. Four and Twenty Blackbirds and got a slice of Salted Caramel Apple Pie.
It's not gorgeous after its commute. It's good, but your standard pie with a bit too much salt in the crust. Not the best thing I've ever eaten.

Aldea
Foie Gras is illegal in CA, so Cathy ordered it for us in NY. Served with cranberry-vanilla jam, poached lady apple and homemade brioche it was delish!
We referenced the BTIEA spreadsheet for Arroz De Pato, duck confit, chorizo, black olives and an orange sauce (that I could have done without. The server chose Sea-Salted Chatham Cod with Brussels sprouts, pickled red onions and Iberian ham. Both good, but not the best things I've ever eaten.
Dessert, however, was amazing. Gianduja Mousse with toasted orange pound cake banana brûlée, Nutella powder and frozen Greek yogurt.
Our server treated us each to a glass of white port, on the house. She knew I wasn't having the best day. And I drank the whole pour.
Finally the Chef's dessert trio, hazelnut something, calamansi something, and gianduja something else... Damn, should have written that down.

Café Dos Dia
A long standing joke about Cafe Today...
Grabbed a bit of food between meetings to hold me over until dinner at Aldea.
Some pasta salad and roasted vegetables. Simple & easy.

Leftover Cornbread
I didn't eat the cornbread that came with my BBQ take out, so I toasted it & had a dollop of butter to start of the day.

Homemade Filipino Breakfast
Cathy couldn't decide what she wanted for brunch... Except that it should be better than yesterday's diner experience.
I volunteered to cook a Filipino breakfast. I started the rice cooker and went to the grocery store for tomatoes, an onion and a head of garlic.
Fried up some lumpia, longaniza, eggs, garlic fried rice and diced fresh tomatoes and onions.

Post-Game Empanadas
Joined the coaches, alum club, and recruits for a post-game meal at Havana Central near Columbia.
Had a small assortment of empanadas. Chicken, beef and spinach with goat cheese.

Ethiopian Linner
Not quite lunch, not quite dinner.
I asked Cathy if there was any cuisine she hadn't tried and she mentioned Ethiopian. She had seen me check in after my trip to Target a few weekends ago.
Fortunately, we were already on the westside after Picnic and were killing time before the Cornell vs. Columbia basketball game.
We headed over to Awash & got the meat combo... 4 meats with collard greens, red lentils and cabbage with carrots and potatoes.
Top notch as always!

Diner
Cathy and I stopped at a diner, Lenox Hill Grill, for breakfast before going to our matinee of Picnic.
I had eggs over medium with bacon, home fries, and whole wheat toast.
Inexpensive and a nice start to the day... Though the eggs were more over easy, but who can complain for $5.50?

Cereal for Dinner
So much lunch that I barely wanted food, but the end of the Raisin Bran Crunch and the last of the vanilla almond milk made an excellent final meal of the day.
Skylight Shoppe
Scott, Jared and I joined David at the Skylight Shoppe... A new pop up luncheonette, modeled after an old time soda fountain.
We shared a bunch of sides and each had a sandwich. I chose the Chicken N Waffles with a lingonberry jalapeño jam, a chicken cutlet and cheddar cheese using waffles as bread. Amazeballs.
We started with Elvis Popcorn flavored with peanut butter and banana. Our sides were bacon and bleu hush puppies, salt & vinegar onion rings, and curly fries (unpictured... as they were pretty substandard).
Topped off the meal with a banana cream pie milkshake.

Nancy Lee's Pig Heaven
Cathy has returned to NY with her spreadsheet! This one wasn't on the spreadsheet, but she saw it on a travel channel episode about ribs.
Pickled cucumbers, tasty spare ribs, & pan fried noodles.

Pre-theater Japanese
Seafood udon, so satisfying. Started with your typical Japanese salad with a delicious carrot ginger dressing. Then off to see the Heiress.
Cafeteria Between Meetings
Morning meetings from 8:30-12, quick lunch in the hospital's cafeteria before my 1pm. Vegetarian Chili and salad bar.

Vegan Dinner
Met Laura and Oli for a vegan meal. Candle 79 is not my favorite place in the neighborhood, but fun to spend the night out with the girls. I had a stuffed avocado starter, with quinoa, chickpeas, pipitas and tomatoes. Followed by a squash and mushroom risotto. My original choice was zucchini lasagna, but the server warned me it was a "raw dish served room temp". Thank goodness for the warning as that sounded AWFUL. My food was fine. Nothing great.
But we headed back to Luke's (where we had been before dinner already) to have some after dinner drinks & dessert. The 3 of us split an ice cream sundae. Also nothing spectacular, but it was a fun night!
