Soup and Chocolate Bread

Meetings meetings meetings... When I finished them at almost 3, I dropped into Paris Baguette for a soup (shrimp gumbo) & got chocolate bread as a treat!

Chili and Board Games

We had BYO lunch and board games day at work. I brought the end of the crock pot chili to share with SB.

This one meal a day this week has been a little odd.

Veggie Farfalle

Mushrooms, artichoke hearts, broccoli, red onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and marinara tossed together with marinara and farfalle. Pasta bar lunch is great.

$2 Day at Schnipper's

It was $2 day. Shawn told me. I mentioned it to Scott, Christoff & Stephen. Our plan was to go a bit before 12 to avoid the kooky lines. Dan dropped by my office just before we walked out so he joined. At 11:47 we met at the front desk, walked over and the line was already up the block. We were inside around 11:56 so the wait wasn't long at all. I had a crispy chicken sandwich and we shared sweet potato and regular fries.

Awesome $4+ tax meal!

Same Meal Twice

I had the same thing twice. Once for brunch and once for dinner. Half a banana each time. Delicious and easy to prepare. I really ought to get more use out of my kitchen.

Bagelwich

I didn't have cheese or tomato slices, and bacon sounded gross so I just had an egg with salt and pepper on a toasted sesame bagel.

Pretty bland but it was enough food for the day apparently. I didn't eat anything else and still feel pretty full.

Banana Flowers

I had to get some Gatorade and Tylenol, so I added some "real food" to my order.

English muffins, slightly toasted, peanut butter & bananas, sliced and arranged like flowers. Happy to be back wanting to eat something small at least.

Hating Smoothies

Another one... Easy protein. Still tasty, but now they are signifying sickness to me.

Another Dang Smoothie

I thought I was on the upsweep. I thought I was feeling better. Nope. Crap again. Back to smoothies and soup.

I only drank one smoothie all day because I spent the evening in the ER. Oh well.

Salad at Game Night

I already had a big bowl of chili at lunch so I tried to eat mostly veggies. The fried chicken and tortilla strips didn't help the situation, but eh, it was a pub.

They also comped us some chips with onion dip. Delish.

Crockpot Chili Lunch

I brought 2/3 of my crock pot chili into the office and invited Scott, Stephen and Christoff to join in the consumption. We bought tortilla chips at Duane Reade, plus I brought in sour cream, shredded cheese and cholula (still reminds me if a particular IHOP criminal incident.) ;)

It was delightful.

Workeversaries

Dan and Jac both hit one year with us this month. We celebrated with donuts in the team meeting and Pinkberry in the afternoon. I had plain glazed... Then tangerine and vanilla so it was like a creamsicle. With mangos, pineapple, captain crunch and a bit of almond roca.

Tasty!

Pasta Lovers

Before the theater we met for dinner at Pasta Lovers. I split penne alla vodka with VRay so we wouldn't have leftovers. I am happy we did... This was just my half. Plus we shared a Caeser salad and of course, a roll. She had her own roll but I only are half of mine ;)

Bread!

First solid food and I ate the white and wheat bread with butter. I usually don't touch the bread at BXL except to occasionally dip in the mussels broth. But after having not eaten solid food in days, it was welcome before chowing down on the salad and mussels that Scott and I split to follow.

Final Smoothie

I made the decision to go back to solid foods after this one... Banana, pinapple, mango and coconut milk. Delish, but need to chew!

Smoothie and Soup

Moving up in the world... Minestrone with my smoothie tonight!

It came with a bit if flatbread.

Chia seeds, bananas and peanut butter powder this time.

Soup tasted good. Was nice to chew a bit.

Berry Smoothie

Mixed berries, yogurt, protein. Suck it down and hope you don't feel like you'll throw up.

Hooray for being sick.

Tropical Smoothie

I guess my bagel was particularly filling, I just haven't been hungry since. Knowing I needed to eat, and 'on the go' since I had theater tickets, I ordered a tropical smoothie with vanilla protein powder.

It was a delicious blend of banana, mango, pinapple, yogurt and orange juice. I wish I had another!

Pay $1 Extra

I felt like lox & a bagel. I ordered from a place nearby. My total was $8.55 but when the delivery person came to the door. A handwritten note said the prices were wrong, please pay $1, it was actually $9.44.

I took the bag of food. I said, I don't have a dollar, work it out with seamless. Plus, I didn't owe them a whole dollar. I should have counted out the $0.89. Silly.

Wine Braised Pulled Pork

Feeling sick is pretty darn awful, but I have warned against my usual instinct of not eating.

I had a pork tenderloin in the freezer and a new crockpot needing to make its way out of the box. Perfect!

Red wine, a bit of water, dry onion soup mix, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh garlic added to the pork loin, then on for 6 hours. Couldn't have been easier!

I made some cous cous in veggie broth and another salad as my sides. It could have been better. The sauce didn't reduce like I would have preferred, but first tries aren't normally perfect!

Cutlet Over Salad

While I was out on my donut mission yesterday, I had a few guilty pangs. I grabbed a bag of salad and other veggies to make up for my nutritional nightmare.

I pan fried a chicken cutlet in salt, pepper, and olive oil to add to the top. Quite satisfying. Though, the "greener selection" lettuce doesn't so much look "greener" does it?

Sickbed Oats

I still am not feeling well, so I made some steel cut oats for breakfast. Added a handful of Craisins and some chopped pecans. Then a bit of honey.

Duck & Cookie Dough[nut]

Leftover duck L'orange, spinach and cauliflower gratin. Followed by cookie dough donut dessert.

Donut Hearts

I tried 2 new flavors of donuts at Dunkin... Cupid's choice was vanilla cream filled and strawberry frosted. Brownie batter was filled with the obvious and chocolate frosted. Yum!

Duck, Duck, Napoleon

Valentines day dinner prix fixe.

Foie Gras with truffled fig preserves and toast. Awesome dish. The man at the next table licked his fig preserve bowl, with his tongue. Incredibly delicious... But so tragic for public behavior. Comedic for me though.

Canard L'orange with cauliflower gratin and spinach. Perfectly cooked duck, tasty sides. So full. I took some home to make sure dessert made it into play.

Napoleon was delicious layers of pastry cream, flakey pastry and fresh fruit and a side of chocolate gelato. Quite refreshing after a rich meal.

Pomme d'amor was a speciality cocktail including calvados (apple brandy) apple purred, cinnamon syrup over ice. Tasted a bit watered down to me. But what do I know?

Comfort Food Lunch

Pullman Kitchen. Top notch.

Scott and I went for comfort food for a late lunch following a long morning/early afternoon of meetings.

I ordered the chicken n waffles... Cornbread waffles with buttermilk fried chicken. Waffle fries on the side.

They don't have ranch dressing. Boooo!

Red Meat Craving

Weird for me to want a steak. But today I wanted one.

I made a quick eye of round with a baked potato and green beans streamed and cooked then in the steak drippings for a bit of extra flavor.

Snow Day Pizza

There were not many of us that made it into the office today. The office ordered pizza for lunch.

Nice to have a free lunch and not go trudging to find food outside.

Tacos & Pork Buns

Jac and Dan dropped by my office asking if I wanted any lunch. They proposed tacos and pork buns. We grabbed Scott & headed to a building nearby with food court style options... Mexican and Japanese.

I had 2 shrimp tacos and a pork bun. Odd combo, but Delish!

Bricklane & Chit Chat

I met Laura for dinner tonight. We spilt a shrimp jalfraize curry with some rice and naan. Snacked on some papadum while we waited on our entree. Chit chatted for hours and got dessert during hour 4 ordered some rice pudding for dessert. It was served in a martini glass and topped with toasted & chopped cashews.

A Little Bit Different

I still haven't quite figured out Schnippers. It's delicious. But a little bit different.

Today I ordered a Santa Fe Chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries with a maple dipping sauce.

Lunar New Year Dinner for 3

We trekked to Chinatown in the cold to find the restaurant we headed for was closed to celebrate the New Year... Ummm, how are we supposed to celebrate if all of the good places are closed?

Settle for a mediocre one, yup!

The Peking duck was good, the cuttlefish and the dumplings were decent, everything else, pretty bland... Seafood pan fried noodles, house special veggies, not great!

The we stopped at TeaRiffic for bubble tea and blueberry cheesecake (the only dessert on the menu).
