Christine and uncle Sanjoy picked me up for a last minute trip in to Queens. After a long day of meetings and very little opportunity to eat, it was a welcomed dinner option.
On the drive out, I told Christine to be sure not to order too much, uncle Sanjoy only wanted a plate of fried lumpia (that he didn't share with us so it goes unpictured).
We went to Ihawan, which translates to BBQ. So Pork BBQ was our first dish. Then Sinigang, a soup with a tamarind base, fish and veggies. Plus Laing, greens cooked in coconut milk and shrimp. To drink we got melon--cantaloupe juice with shredded cantaloupe floating on top.
For dessert, we popped into the Filipino market across the street for bananaque, caramelized small red bananas on a stick. When we got home I made it into a banana split with a scoop of neapolitan ice cream.
