Halloween Chili & Pumpkin Ice Cream

I skipped breakfast and spent my lunch going to pick up my new iPhone... So my first meal today was chili for an early dinner... Followed by organic pumpkin ice cream.

So Halloweeny!

Not Enchiladas

I made rolled quesadillas rather than enhcilladas. I was too lazy to create the sauce when I got home from happy hour. Maybe tomorrow instead.

BXL FTW

Scott and I split a salad and mussels for lunch. I brought chili and baked potatoes, but was in such a bad mood that I thought it'd be a better idea to get out of the office.

Goat cheese & honey salad, shallot & white wine mussels, fries and a bread basket. Top notch meal.

Then back to the office for chocolate chip cookies.

Oysters, Mac n Cheese & Scallops

Amy, Vikki and I met at the Smith for dinner before our Shakespeare play at Lincoln Center. Vikki and I shared a dozen oysters, we all 3 shared mac n cheese and I had a scallop bake.

It kicked off our evening nicely before our snoozefest (not literally) at Macbeth.

Soup, Salad & an Apple

I meant to eat the apple at breakfast time, but failed.

I made homemade butternut squash soup with homemade chicken stock on Sunday. Today I brought some for lunch. Along with some chopped salad with BBQ ranch & tortilla crunchies. Plus one of New York's finest galas.

Chili Topped Baked Potato

I made baked potatoes as the base of my next soup. I made one extra to have for dinner. Topped it with some chili that I made last night. Same "recipe" as last time. So delicious.

Segmented Leftovers

From last night's pile of food, Jonathan packed up my lunch into some segmented portions... For the photo.

Guess-a-Bagel

It's always entertaining when Tom tries to remember/guess what I want when he goes to pick up food for me.

Today was "tofu spread...uhhh..." Then Dan said, "whole wheat sesame."

Good guess, but whole wheat everything, lox tofu, toasted, please.

Pile of Food

Jonathan came for dinner. We stir fried bok choy and mushrooms with beef. I prepped chili as Jonathan made the dinner. We started to serve. I dishes up the rice & he went for the meat and veggies. His looked like a pile of food, so he let me dish up my own, so I could arrange mine for the photo.

Waiting on Groceries

I ordered in groceries today. I sat patiently waiting and was so hungry. I decided waiting would be less painful if I just made some hot dogs.

So I BBQ basted some more hot dogs. And had some kettle cooked chips as a side.

Apple Butter English Muffin

Toasted up another English muffin and had another helping of Shawn's apple butter.

Mexican Grazing

I ordered in tacos and a burrito, ate the tacos for what would have been brunch and the burrito in three parts between naps through linner and dinner.

Sushi Samaba

Japanese and Brazilian fusion. Weird, but we had some good stuff. I let the other girls choose and annoyed them when I needed a photo of everything.

We had 2 ceviches, 2 rolls, dumplings, tempura rock shrimp, lime salt edamame, an amazing mushroom dish, and 3 desserts. It was quite an affair to remember. At the end I remembered the box of black and white cookies I bought to celebrate our time together in NY.

Taxidermy Lounge

To the Taxidermy Lounge, aka Stagshead... We had some burgers. Mine was turkey with pepper jack  avocado and onion straws. Plus a side of Cajun fries.

Shawn's Apple Butter

Shawn made some apple butter from the apples we picked on Long Island. He gave me some to try. It's been sitting on my butcher block for weeks. I finally bought some English muffins. Delicious apple butter inside some books and crannies.

BBQ Basted Hot Dogs

I was home late from work and wanted something fast. I was inspired by the World Series and bought some Ball Park Hot Dogs, heated them in a pan & basted them with BBQ sauce. Toasted up the buns, topped them with a bit of shredded cheese & finished off the German potato salad.

Pizza Da Solo

Dan is back from London. I invited him for a lunch meeting to catch up & remembered he loved a pizza place kinda far from the office. It's freshly made, quite delicious and kosher! I wolfed it down. Dan was telling me stories about his trip & I finished half the pizza before he finished a slice.

Cereal Chia

I am out of mangos, but had an inch of raisin bran left in the bottom of the box. It was probably stale, but I didn't notice once it was mixed into my chia seed pudding.

Ah! Chihuahua

Scott, Stephen and I set out for chipotle and when the line Disneyland wound through the store, we debated between a Mexican food cart or Ah! Chihuahua... We sat down and had a nice lunch and conversation. I had a Mexico City combo, a taco, burrito and enchilada. Plus my share of chips and salsa.

Superfood is Super Delicious

Bernard has become a superfoody. I brought cupcakes back from a drop in at a JCTO meeting and brought them to the web team. I told Bernard he could not have one because he was eating superfoods. I told him I wasn't having one either but had chia seed pudding for breakfast. Should him this photo and we all had a good laugh when he told the team that superfoods were super delicious and good for you... They thought he was talking about the cupcakes.

Jonathan's First Soup Dumpling

For as many times as I have had soup dumpling with Shawn and other friends and family, I learned tonight that Jonathan hasn't ever tried them. He loved them of course. We had 3 orders, plus seafood lo mien and shrimp in lobster sauce (which was too snotty in texture for my liking).

For dessert we got coconut smoothies with boba. It was so big and cold that I got 40 ice cream headaches. But so worth it!

Greek & Spicy

We went to the Uncle Gussy's truck today. I had a Greek salad with lamb. It has mixed greens, olives, grape leaves, feta, plus Greek and Spicy, which is their code for with tzatziki and hot sauce.

Pastrami Scamble

I decided to throw the leftover pastrami queen sandwich into some eggs for a quick scramble this morning. It was a very salty start to the morning, but was better than eating the leftover sandwich.

Pork Chops & Apple Sauce

Pork chops and homemade apple sauce with warm German potato salad and some kale slaw.

I sliced and boiled some red potatoes. Sliced a huge apple and half an onion. Pan fried pork chops, set them aside when they were browned. Sautéed onions and apples in the pork grease to caramelized them. Diced a red bell pepper and a quarter onion. Drained the potatoes. Fried up some bacon & drained it on paper towel. Cooked the bell pepper and onion in the bacon gease. Added half a can of Yuenling beer to the apples and onions. Added the pork chops back to the pan. Added half a cup of cider vinegar and half a cup of water to the peppers and onions and tossed it together with the potatoes and bacon. Simmered the pork chops and apple sauce. Tossed the kale slaw with a handful of shredded cheese and some ranch dressing. Shared the meal with Jonathan. Yum!

Minestrone & Caesar Split

We went for mussels and salad but were more excited about the soup du jour, minestrone. We split the giant Caesar salad. I was so hungry I finished first, even though Scott typically speed eats.

Pastrami Queen

Brian and Alexis were in for a short visit. They needed lunch before their flight, so I took them to Pastrami Queen. They got a brisket sandwich. I had pastrami with a half sour and we shared some garlic fries.

Taste of NY Brunch

Laura and I treated Aimee and Olivia to the Taste of NY brunch.

We had a great time trying great food and drink from NY based chefs.

The places were set with baked apples with yogurt, granola and fruit. Coffee, water, OJ, and all sorts of wine were available to accompany the meal.

The rest of the dishes were at tables around the room. We loved the pumpkin ravioli with foie gras. There was also a great piece of smoked salmon, a popover stuffed with eggs, smoked fish and creme fraiche.

Chicken and a biscuit, frittata, gnocchi, a brunchillada, sweet potato bread pudding, coconut crusted french toast, chicken pot pie, and truffled scrambled eggs.
