Krinsky Family Dinner

Met some of the Krinsky clan for dinner before going to see Blaine in Spring Awakening at NYU.

We met at Smile. Everything was so good. I had the Bronzino with roasted fennel with a side of Brussels sprouts. We started by sharing a bunch of appetizers and ended by sharing some desserts.

Baked Donuts

I picked up some donuts for the team meeting today. I had pieces of so many of them that I figured the photo of them all was the best choice.

BiBimBop

We had a group lunch at Korea Palace. It was a fun trip. Everyone has BiBimBop ... 2 shrimp (Jackie & Marina), 2 chicken (Dan & Tom) and 2 pork with kimchi (Scott & me), all of the fabulous Korean side dishes, and some miso soup. Followed up by a dish of halftime oranges!

Seamless Coupon

I was suckered, as always, by a coupon from Seamless. I ordered in some sushi from Wasabi Lobby. Aimee, Oli, and Laura are really like it but I've never eaten there before.

I ordered Maki Combo B:
1 spicy tuna roll,
1 spicy salmon crunchy,
1 eel avocado roll
and miso soup.

Reubens Are Good

I don't like sandwiches. It's a weird thing. People often mock me about it. But I'd pretty much rather eat anything else.

Today I ordered a reuben from Murphy's Law. Scott, Jackie, and I went to lunch between meetings at the college. I was happy with my choice but felt crazy with how badly I wanted to wash my hands.

Reubens are good, but tomorrow I think I'll go back to not eating sandwiches.

Wet Burrito

One of things I miss most about California is Mexican food. Sometimes I just have to make my own. Today was bean, rice and cheese burrito with a bit of pork topped with some green salsa and sour cream.

Cake Time

I was able to take 15 experiments to have Bernard's birthday celebration. I had a piece of cake. Not my best effort but it'll suffice.

We Already Dug Inn This Week

Two days in a row to Dig Inn. We had less than an hour to grab food between meetings so Scott, Tom, Dan, Jackie and I ran over to Dig Inn.

Dan was an odd pro after yesterday's practice run. Couldn't be prouder.

Jackie, however, had her first experience. And thought it was as stressful as Dan's yesterday.

Today I had to make a brown rice, lemon chicken, brussels sprouts again, orzo and arugula salad, and green beans with potatoes and almonds. Topped with the roasted red pepper sauce.

Fish Taco Night

Shawn came over for fish taco night.

We went to the grocery store to pick up things for fish tacos and the green tea cakes with white chocolate mousse filling and white chocolate ganache that I needed to make.

He marinated the fish while I started the mousse. We baked rather than grilled today. Had guacamole proper rather than out typical guacamole salad. And when we got tired of tortillas we "topped a triscuit" like the commercials say.

Fish, talapia to be exact, guacamole, sour cream, Mexican blend cheese, halved grape tomatoes, jalapeƱo slices, fresh squeezed limes, and salsa.

Amazing as always.

Too Many Choices

Scott and I took Dan to Dig Inn for lunch today. He had a bit of a panicky moment trying to figure out what to order.

We explained: similarly to the burrito bowl at Chipotle, you pick your rice, pick your protein, pick your veggies and your sauce.

I had tomato brown rice, spicy meatballs, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, and beets with tzatziki.

Delish, but so hard to finish after bagel breakfast.

Bagel Breakfast

Started with my toasted everything bagel with jalapeƱo cream cheese, which was delicious, but a mistake... I wasn't hungry for lunch & barely finished.

Leftover Pizza

I don't eat a ton of pizza, but Oscar night seemed like a good time for leftovers. I meant to bring the leftovers from game night to the office during the week, but ended up throwing them into the freezer for my uncle. When I brought them over yesterday, I guess I forgot one of the foil wrapped packages, so I had it tonight.

Filing Flautas

I ordered in chorizo and potato flautas and horchata at brunch. Figured I could scramble some eggs with salsa to go along side. The flautas were so delicious and filling that I never made the eggs.

One Giant Meal

One huge plate. Then seconds. Still full 8 hours later.

My aunties made a Filipino feast: pancit, kare kare, tongue, pinakbet and rice. Loverly brought a fruit tart and I made Filipino fruit salad, which has very little fruit and a lot of cream and sugar.

It was a delicious meal of childhood flavors! So happy to have had a homemade meal with family. Too full for dinner, but so worth it!

Happy Hour at Obao

On our lunch trip to Obao earlier this week we saw a sign for happy hour beers and mystery shots. I had a Singapore Laksa soup with shrimp and pork belly. Then split 2 desserts (banana lumpia with caramel and candied walnuts and a black rice pudding) with Scott and Tom while they had 3 shots, 2 beers and split 4 bottles of hot sake along with their dinners. A fun night all in all!

Shamrock Shake Day!

We needed a break this afternoon... It's been a long week, trying to shove 5 days of work into 4!

We went on an outing to McDonald's for Shamrock Shakes. I bought 4 medium, 6 small & one chocolate shake. Took photos for Jared. He left, he needs to be jealous!

Introducing Chriashi to Dan

We have a new team member... I've mentioned him a few times in past posts, since he has joined me on many lunch ventures.

Being the 2nd Friday of Lent, one of our lapsed Catholic team members wanting to avoid meat, a return to chirashi was paramount.

Miso soup, salad and chirashi! Fabulous!

Post-Upgrade Pasta

Scott and I grabbed a late dinner after nearly failing another upgrade of the eIRB. Craptasic evening capped off by a satisfactorily mediocre penne alla vodka.

I ordered the Greek salad to start, since I am still severely lacking on veggie intake. The salad was better than the pasta. The bread nubbins were odd shape and texture, but tasty.

Love a Coupon

This morning I saw a Google Offer for 30% off of Bon Chon. I love a good coupon!! Especially for a place that I already know I like.

Scott, Dan and I shared truffled shoestring fries, a medium platter of soy garlic wings, and 2 orders of rice. To be fair, they shared one and I had the other.

Just Order Me Some Soup

Christine joined me for a manicure and came to my apartment for a bit after. I told her I was going to order in some dinner and asked if she wanted anything. She told me she wasn't very hungry and said, "just order me some soup".

Knowing her I listed some things I was deciding between and ended up canceling the soup to share some pad Thai, massaman curry over rice, starting with summer rolls, and ending with mango with sticky rice.

Pretty good for trying delivery from a new place. So full!

LPQ

I met a colleague for lunch today and suggested Le Pain Quotidien in the meeting request. Before she had read the location, she emailed me to suggest the same place. I said, "see you at LPQ!"

We each had lentil soup, split an arugula salad with avocado, beets, goat cheese, parmesan, and tomatoes.

I had a coffee with soy milk and we finished up with mini-apricot tarts.

Fabulous lunch... Glad we suggested it.

Pizza and Trivial Pursuit

We didn't have enough people for our D&D game, tonight. We had already ordered the pizza before the last person backed out. So we played a game of trivial pursuit over buffalo chicken and cheese pizza. Quite a junk food filled day...Someone remind me to eat vegetables tomorrow!
