Chili Sauce 2

It was nearly 10PM when I got home from work. I wasn't very hungry after a late lunch, so I popped into Gristedes to grab some salad mix. There was a new Asian chopped salad mix that included kale, broccoli slaw, cabbages, and sugar snap peas.

I made a vinaigrette with sweet chili sauce, white balsamic vinegar and olive oil to keep with the day's theme.

Chili Sauce 1

The boys has gone to the Japanese grocery store and brought back bowls. When I was ready to eat and Jac wanted a walk, We headed down there too. I bought a bowl with rice at the bottom covered in shrimp with chili sauce. It was quite delicious.

I also got some strawberry milk mochi for a sweet end to the meal.

Big Lunch Equals Small Dinner

So much delicious food at lunch! I made a small bean and cheese burrito with a bit if hot sauce for dinner.

Special Fish

Christine and I took auntie Evelyn for Thai food out in Queens. We had a multicourse lunch, everything was delicious but the special fish was top notch.

It was a whole fried red snapper with a ginger sauce, mushrooms and carrots, served with white rice.

Thai iced tea that was super strong.

Tom kha ga soup, coconut broth with chicken and mushrooms and herbs.

Papaya salad that was a bit spicy.

Watercress sautéed with sauces.

Chicken wings perfectly fried with sweet chili sauce.

And finally fried bananas with buko pandan ice cream.

Return to Republic

4-5 years ago, I used to frequent Republic. I can't even remember the last time I was there, so I was happy to return for dinner when Laura suggested it.

I had the spicy seafood noodle soup. Calamari, fish, shrimp, scallops, bean sprouts, scallions, cilantro, and rice noodles in a delicious spicy broth.

Soho Brunch Split

Laura and I ventured down to Soho and wandered until we found a brunch spot. Laura noticed Boqueria, a cute tapas place and we shared 2 entrees and a dessert.

Sausage and a fried egg over white beans and salsa verde, an omlet with mushrooms, goat cheese and caramelized onions, with potatoes and salad. For dessert, ricotta with berries, caramelized nuts and honey.

Pre- & Post- Annie Oysters

Shawn and I met before the theater at Thalia for $1 oysters, and a few sushi rolls. A tuna roll in soy paper with wasabi mayo and a dragon roll, this time. As well as a dozen Blue Point oysters. Plus a tirimusu, since we were finished early enough.

After the show, Jonathan, Shawn and I went to Bamboo 52 for a dozen Blue Point oysters, this time with ponzu and pre-sauced with something it was too dark to understand. 3 sushi rolls this time, eel avocado, tempura lobster and some variation on spicy tuna. To finish the meal we had baked brie, with poached pear, Craisins, and honey.

Labor, Pizza, Salad and Ice Cream

I have a project that will not end. This most recent step was sending computers to be reimaged. Our service desk has Saturday hours, fortunate for me; since they need to be ready by Monday. Scott, Janelle, and I schelped computers out of a building, into a cab and into a different building ... Labor.

Then Scott & I headed to Patsy's for pizza and salad. A mushroom pie, a Caesar salad and some rolls later, we were ready to continue the day.

An afternoon snack/dessert felt earned when we has some moose tracks ice cream sandwiches.

Obao & Dessert

I only ate one meal, lunch with Scott at Obao. I had the kalbi spare ribs, again.

Plus, as dessert, I tied the pumpkin coffee cake that we received from one of our recruiters. Delish!

Goat Cheese Sushi?

I was reading a menu and thought, who puts goat cheese in sushi?

Apparently this place. I had planned to cook, but had to have it. Salmon and goat cheese roll, a yellowtail jalapeño roll and a spicy tuna hand roll.

Goat cheese was delicious in the sushi roll! Who knew?!

Leftover Chili

I brought the leftover chili to work for lunch. Scott and I rushed through lunch in anticipation of a fire drill that tbt building screwed up.

Oh well, chili was still good.

Chili & Cornbread

I defrosted some stew meat but didn't feel like stew so I decided on chili con carne and some cornbread. I started with 2 lbs of stew meat, cut into cubes, browned it up & cooked a green pepper, 3 cloves of garlic and a whole onion in the fat that rendered out. A can of tomatoes and some chili powder, some beef stock and simmering for 2 hours. Added a can of pinto beans and one of kidney beans at the end.

Cornbread with creamed corn made for a nice side. Plus some shredded cheese and sour cream as topping.

Dig Inn & 2nd Lunch

Scott & I had a quick lunch at Dig Inn. Spinach topped with salmon salad, quinoa salad, beets with pumpkin seeds and roasted Brussels sprouts.

Then we had a meeting later in a conference room where someone has ordered in food, I love the olive rolls, only ate the top bread and some Caesar salad.

Giant Apple Breakfast

I ate a giant apple from my adventures in the Hamptons. It took all day to finish it, but it was awesome. Tart and tasty.

Spanish and Italian Tapas

I met Jonathan at Pil Pil for some first course tapas, we had albonigas, potatoes, and bacalhau.

Then we moved on to Allero, an Italian place in the neighborhood that Jonathan liked and I hadn't previously tried. We had the bread, though I only ate the olives before needing the bread to sauce mop. We shared an eggplant pairing, an eggplant tourine, a parmesan mousse and a breaded piece, reminiscent of a deconstructed eggplant parm. We also split the marscapone ravioli topped with sea urchin and black truffle. It squirted across the table when I cut into the first one. We laughed so hard the first 4 courses nearly came back up!

Omar's for Shawarma

I joined Dan & Scott for the walk up to Omar's and decided to get the lunch special, mixed grill combo, to try a few things on my first trip.

Lamb kofta, chicken, shwarma, eggplant salad, rice, and pita. It was a very satisfying meal, but too much meat. Next time I'll go one meat and more sides.

Plus a cute and delicious piece of baklava to finish the meal.

Bean & Cheese Burritos

I really need to go to the grocery store!
After searching through the fridge and freezer, I moved some meat to thaw for tomorrow, but didn't have anything to cook tonight.

I grabbed some tortillas, refried beans, hot sauce, salsa and cheese to create easy bean & cheese burritos.

I should have taken a walk to the grocery store, but it was a nice meal for a lazy Sunday night.

Breakfast Parfait

I had a banana and a container of peach yogurt, so I added some peanuts and chia seeds to create a delicious breakfast parfait.

Eating Across Long Island

We drove all the way across Long Island... From Manhattan into the Bronx, through Queens and all the way out to the tip to Montauk State Park.

We ate all along the way, mostly shared, I don't think I ate anything of my own. Starbucks pastry, banana with peanut butter, garlic lemon butter corn, apple cider and pumpkin spice donuts, apples, cheese and triscuits, paella, oysters, lobster cake slider, lump crab cocktail, mussels in a creamy broth, seared tuna, garlic bread, butter poached lobster with butternut and spaghetti squash, and other assorted car snacks.
